Felicita Dragonfly Pond – 2 OCT 2025

The Felicita Dragonfly Pond (map) is not formally named but rather a de facto name after spending one cloudless afternoon photographing the same dragonfly making round trips to one of a few sticks reaching into the sun around the pond. It is simply a billowing area of Felicita creek with a still surface – perfect habitat for the Flame Skimmer. A quiet, sunny spot partially shaded by oaks and sycamores just off the trail and bordered by some gnarly tree roots that make a nice spot to sit and observe . . . The slow-motion video at the end of the gallery captures the Flame Skimmer in flight.
